MEET Grandison

I am a proud public servant, U.S. Army veteran, educator, and community leader whose life has been shaped by faith, family, and a deep commitment to service. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, I was raised with strong values rooted in discipline, respect, and perseverance principles that continue to guide me in every area of my life.
From an early age, I was taught the importance of community, responsibility, and standing up for what is right. Those values were reinforced through the influence of my family, mentors, and the culture of resilience that defines New Orleans. My upbringing instilled in me a lifelong dedication to uplifting others, protecting institutions, and working to strengthen the communities I serve.
I graduated from L.W. Higgins High School in Marrero, Louisiana, where I developed early leadership skills, a strong work ethic, and a desire to pursue a life of service. I was actively involved in my school’s Air Force JROTC program, Black History School Choir, and Marching Band, all of which helped shape my discipline, confidence, and commitment to community.
After graduating, I continued my education through college studies, building the academic foundation that would later support my leadership roles in both the military and civilian sectors. I attended the University of New Orleans, the University of Phoenix, and Excelsior University, where I focused on personal development, leadership, and professional growth.
One of the most meaningful moments in my journey of education and community service came when I received an Honorary Doctorate from Kingdom Heritage University.
I also answered the call to serve my country by joining the United States Army, beginning a distinguished military career that spanned more than 20 years of service. I am a combat veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom, I have served in demanding environments that required integrity, accountability, and mission-focused leadership. While being part of U.S. Army recruiting command, I personally was responsible for maintaining over 750,000 + records from Virgina, Louisiana and Texas. Throughout my service, I earned a reputation as a disciplined professional who could be trusted with responsibility, sensitive information, and the care of others.
After retiring from active service, I continued my mission of developing people and strengthening systems by becoming an Army JROTC Instructor, where I mentor and teach young leaders daily. In the classroom, I continue to instill values of citizenship, discipline, leadership, and service by helping shape the next generation into confident, capable, and community-minded adults. Through using these methods, the AJROTC program has had continued success in enrollment and is one of the featured programs in the HISD, JROTC Departments.
Beyond my professional career, I am a dedicated civic leader who has served in numerous community organizations and initiatives across Brazoria County and surrounding areas. My work includes active involvement with the NAACP, the Brazoria County Democratic Party, faith-based outreach efforts, the Hiram King Tyre Masonic Grand Lodge, the Queen Estrella Order of the Eastern Star Grand Chapter, and local service programs that support youth, veterans, families, and communities.
My leadership has consistently focused on fairness, opportunity, and the belief that government and institutions should serve people with integrity. I have also traveled between Louisiana and Texas in ministry, and I currently serve as the Pastor of Intergenerational House of Prayer, a nondenominational church located in the Greenspoint area of Houston.
I am also a proud husband and father. My wife (Teoka) and I, who is also a fellow military veteran, have built our family on shared values of faith, service, and commitment. Together, we raise our children in Brazoria County and remain deeply invested in the strength of local schools, safe communities, and public institutions that people can trust.
Whether serving in uniform, mentoring students, or working in the community, I have always stood for accountability, respect, and service above self. My life reflects a proven record of leadership and a continued commitment to protecting and improving the systems that families depend on every day.
Experienced. Dedicated. Ready to Serve.
